July Update

So much has happened since my last update!

The kids wrapped up their school year last month and all made excellent grades to proceed on to the year in school! We are so proud of these kids for all they have accomplished and the effort they put forth for their education. So many of you have donated specifically to fund their schooling and we are especially grateful for this! Because of our wonderful sponsors, we are able to send them to the best school in our region.

Shortly after school wrapped up, I was sent back to the states due to ongoing unrest in the country. Leaving the children under those circumstances, not knowing when I will be able to return, seems to get harder every time. I am so thankful for Dieudonne, who manages everything while I am gone and takes excellent care of the children. He is the only source of consistency they have had their entire life. Thankfully, I was able to return a little over 2 weeks later and what a happy reunion it was!!

Huge praise report: We finally have water running to our tank from the well!!!! Issues with our well have been an ongoing problem for over 2 and a half years. Thousands of dollars have been spent on this problem and we are so incredibly grateful to finally have it fixed! Thank you to everyone who prayed alongside us for this to be resolved – our prayers were heard!

Our good friends, Amschel, Schemalley, & Bicly have started choir practice with the kids. They have practice 3 afternoons a week and are currently working on three songs in particular. The kids are doing so well and I cannot wait until they can sing in church! I am so thankful for these guys for giving their time and energy to come and teach and love on our kids.

Bigenson and Stevenson have formed a soccer team with several of the boys from our village. They played their first game on Monday and won 6-2! Gillot, Jocelyn and I had a great time watching them play!

A few weeks ago the house parents, that we brought on in January, decided this was not a good fit for them and moved on to other opportunities. We are now in the process of figuring out what the next step is. Please pray for us and with us as we look at our options. Pray for wisdom and that the decision we make is in the very best interest for the children.

Thank you for your prayers and support!
